Purchasing a hat

When purchasing a hat you will need to choose a size. In order to do that you will need to know the head measurement of the person the hat is intended for. Measuring the head isn't difficult or complicated to do, but hopefully this quick guide will confirm how it's done.

To measure the head

You will need either a soft tape measure (dressmakers tape measure), or a piece of string and a regular tape measure to measure it against.

  Measure the circumference around the head keeping  the tape level and firm,
 just above the ears, across the forehead and over the  bump on the back of the head.
 As a guide -  take your head measurement and add approximately half an inch, for comfort, this will give your hat size for a TwiLd Capit Hog handmade hat.

The hood is handmade from up-cycled pure cashmere sweaters of blues and charcoal grey, which are patch-worked and quilted to soft cotton winceyette with vertical and diagonal lines. This form of quilting is called flat quilting, the purpose of which is to add that extra layer of warmth. 

A blue lining of beautiful soft sandwash silk is added which is part quilted to the cashmere. The front edges of a cardigan provide extra detail at the neck, with the original button holes and three vintage diminutive buttons forming the closure.

These all natural luxurious fabrics will softly hug the head ears and neck for comforting warmth, as only a sweater hood can. 

Materials: upcycled cashmere sweaters, upcycled cotton winceyette, silk

Cool hand wash . Drip dry.
