When purchasing a hat you will need to choose a size. In order to do that you will need to know the head measurement of the person the hat is intended for. Measuring the head isn't difficult or complicated to do, but hopefully this quick guide will confirm how it's done.
To measure the head
You will need either a soft tape measure (dressmakers tape measure), or a piece of string and a regular tape measure to measure it against.

This is a stylish handmade Victorian style smoking cap in maroon. The luxurious wool/ silk fabric used for the tip is layered over cotton covered polyester wadding and quilted, to give the hat structure, and hand embellished with oxblood coloured seed beads. The cotton twill crown has a peach finish giving it a tactile soft handle.
The pillbox shape is finished with an elegant tassel handcrafted from vintage black fringing and black cord, unique to TwiLd Capit Hog smoking caps. Satin lining gives the interior a sumptuous feel, which is completely hand finished.
An elegant cap based on the eastern looking lounge hat or fez of the 1860's/70's. The perfect gentleman's dress hat, wizard or magician's hat.

**As a guide - take your head measurement and add approx. half an inch (for comfort), this gives your hat size.
Materials: wool/silk fabric tip, cotton covered polyester wadding, peached cotton twill, polyester satin lining, vintage fringing, satin cord, beading.
Each is individually handmade so will differ slightly. Including angle of quilting on tip, which is determined after being quilted. Satin lining colour may differ as subject to availability.
