Purchasing a hat

When purchasing a hat you will need to choose a size. In order to do that you will need to know the head measurement of the person the hat is intended for. Measuring the head isn't difficult or complicated to do, but hopefully this quick guide will confirm how it's done.

To measure the head

You will need either a soft tape measure (dressmakers tape measure), or a piece of string and a regular tape measure to measure it against.

  Measure the circumference around the head keeping  the tape level and firm,
 just above the ears, across the forehead and over the  bump on the back of the head.
 As a guide -  take your head measurement and add approximately half an inch, for comfort, this will give your hat size for a TwiLd Capit Hog handmade hat.

This stylish Smoking Cap is handmade from two up-cycled vintage Harris Tweed jackets, in shades of brown, off white, green and burgundy. The patchwork design creating the upcoming mismatched tweed look. 

Harris Tweed being 100% wool is a hard-wearing fabric, often out lasting more delicate lining and trimmings in vintage jackets. By re-purposing these jackets this beautiful fabric continues to deliver its unique luxury and warmth.

The fabric is cut both vertically and horizontally to create interesting and unique pieces ensuring no two hats are identical. Each patchwork panel is top stitched to give the impression of a tailored jacket, with one of the jackets original buttons stitched to the centre of the quilted tip.

The removable macrame tassel is handcrafted from vintage butter soft leather, and hangs from the vintage button. Both the button and tassel add uniqueness to the hat with the combination of age and characterful imperfections. 

For comfort the crown is finished with a band of maroon soft brushed cotton twill which also forms part of the lining along with forest green cotton. 

I make hats as unique as the people who wear them. This design, with its mix of recycled, remnant fabric and vintage trimmings, will be produced in a very limited number. 

This elegant Victorian style cap is based on the eastern looking gentleman's lounge hat from the 19th century. A timeless and tasteful addition to any collection.

Absolutely amazing, I saw this item in the medium size that was available, I knew I had to have it, I even messaged the owner if it was possible to make it in my size.

One day I logged on to Esty and there it was listed in my size, I knew immediately what I had to do, it was in two other peoples baskets, but no ! it was destined to me mine !

When it arrived I was astounded, the quality of materials and the craftsmanship was beyond anything I could imagined, this thinking cap was made and designed not to last years but to last decades. I am beyond delighted to own this Harris Tweed cap and I know I will grow old wearing it, I will keep it in great condition so when I have children I will pass it on to them. it was so great and fantastic I even bought another one and I'm thinking about buying a third one.
