Purchasing a hat

When purchasing a hat you will need to choose a size. In order to do that you will need to know the head measurement of the person the hat is intended for. Measuring the head isn't difficult or complicated to do, but hopefully this quick guide will confirm how it's done.

To measure the head

You will need either a soft tape measure (dressmakers tape measure), or a piece of string and a regular tape measure to measure it against.

  Measure the circumference around the head keeping  the tape level and firm,
 just above the ears, across the forehead and over the  bump on the back of the head.
 As a guide -  take your head measurement and add approximately half an inch, for comfort, this will give your hat size for a TwiLd Capit Hog handmade hat.

Stay stylish and comfortable with this lightweight and breathable silk bucket style hat with adjustable tie, handmade in a neutral colour pallet of taupe, browns, gold and cream.

Crafted from luxurious raw silk with a front feature panel of reclaimed satin silk, the embroidered leaf motif on the front adds a subtle chic touch, and the brush cotton lining provides both comfort and form to the light silk.

A fine plastic millinery reed has been added to the brim edge so it will keep it's shape and not flop. This also allows for the brim to be flipped up at the front or on one side. 

The bonnet style back provides ample room for any hairstyle, making it both practical and stylish, while the tie can be tightened or loosened for a comfortable fit for head sizes ranging from small 22”/ 56cm to large 24”/61cm.

The reclaimed silk with its age adds unique characterful imperfections to this classic vintage style bell shaped hat, with a 60's or 90's feel.

Absolutely amazing, I saw this item in the medium size that was available, I knew I had to have it, I even messaged the owner if it was possible to make it in my size.

One day I logged on to Esty and there it was listed in my size, I knew immediately what I had to do, it was in two other peoples baskets, but no ! it was destined to me mine !

When it arrived I was astounded, the quality of materials and the craftsmanship was beyond anything I could imagined, this thinking cap was made and designed not to last years but to last decades. I am beyond delighted to own this Harris Tweed cap and I know I will grow old wearing it, I will keep it in great condition so when I have children I will pass it on to them. it was so great and fantastic I even bought another one and I'm thinking about buying a third one.
