Purchasing a hat

When purchasing a hat you will need to choose a size. In order to do that you will need to know the head measurement of the person the hat is intended for. Measuring the head isn't difficult or complicated to do, but hopefully this quick guide will confirm how it's done.

To measure the head

You will need either a soft tape measure (dressmakers tape measure), or a piece of string and a regular tape measure to measure it against.

  Measure the circumference around the head keeping  the tape level and firm,
 just above the ears, across the forehead and over the  bump on the back of the head.
 As a guide -  take your head measurement and add approximately half an inch, for comfort, this will give your hat size for a TwiLd Capit Hog handmade hat.

This dapper smoking cap is handmade with an ethnic bohemian feel. 

The mink brown lamb’s wool tip is quilted in a checkered and stripe design, along with floral free hand machine embroidery in red and dark brown contrast stitching. This has then been hand embellished with seed beads. The quilting adds designer interest as well as giving the hat structure and the distinct TwiLd Capit Hog detail.

The ethnic brown striped crown, in cotton twill, is edged with a band of lush red cotton corduroy. The corduroy continues through to the inside to form part of the lining along with red cotton twill. The twill and corduroy crown can be fully turned up or lowered to give a more nonchalant look

This elegant Victorian style pillbox shaped hat is based on the eastern looking lounge cap of the 1860's/70's.
