When purchasing a hat you will need to choose a size. In order to do that you will need to know the head measurement of the person the hat is intended for. Measuring the head isn't difficult or complicated to do, but hopefully this quick guide will confirm how it's done.
To measure the head
You will need either a soft tape measure (dressmakers tape measure), or a piece of string and a regular tape measure to measure it against.

The vibrant Aztec patterned fabric was the inspiration for this Smoking Cap. This handmade hat has a distinctive quilted tip of patchwork segments of black and cream corduroy, enhanced with block square machine embroidery in red to compliment the patterned crown.
A deep patterned band on the crown, in black, red, cream and gold, has an Aztec design, which is highlighted by the edging of black corduroy. The soft black corduroy carries through to the inside of the hat to form part of the lining along with red cotton twill, for comfortable wear.
The patterned and corduroy crown can be fully turned up or lowered to give a more nonchalant look. A beautiful black glass vintage button with an Art Deco design adds the final detail to the centre of the tip, for attaching the removable tassel. The fine tassel has been crafted using red braid knotted in a macrame design with black fringing. Both the button and tassel add uniqueness to the hat with the combination of age and characterful imperfections.
An elegant cap based on the eastern looking lounge hat or fez of the 1860's/70's. The perfect gentleman's dress hat, wizard or magician's hat.
